Barbarians
The ai ends up having 4 or 5 times more military than me, and at the same time, my cities are continuesly being swarmed by groups of up to 6 barbarians. I have two warriors, 2 scouts, maybe an Archer and a spearman too at that point, and I would still not be able to defend anything. Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. This is all because of those goddamned barbarians (AI enemies that don't belong to a faction). After cutting down many barbarians I had to resort to mass scout coverage so see every single tile on my continent because any tile in the fog of war could breed barbarians like c***roaches. Is this also how it is with Civ 5?. Unless you specifically turn them off when setting up your game, Barbarians will appear in every game of Civilization 5. Barbarians or naw?
Barbarians - I love them and hate them On the one hand, even on standard difficulty, turning barbarians off seems to result in more runaway civs and it's harder to maintain an edge. Does anyone play with no barbarians?
I have like a love hate relationship with barbarians. I like the idea of in early game barbarians being there, but I also hate how sometimes there will be one camp that can spawn like 20 units and can even sometimes destroy early ai civs. .

I noticed that barbarians now spawn anywhere, except on land owned by a civ, and to be honest, this makes the game very frustrating and rage inducing. Instead of playing a Civ game, it seems I am playing barbarian whack a mole against the rng. Not fun at all. Compounded by the unit limits that. .
