It's pretty close for a gay (ish?) pairing, among MCs at least, in a shounen, which are almost non-existent. Obviously, Its not JUST gay. It has a very important message, and that is undeniable. BUT, With so little lgbt representation in the media (though i wouldn't exactly call ryo's and akira's relationship healthy) having something so old have so much, its kind of important for the lgbt community. . Not a Hero's Journey
