I’m younger and clearly haven’t lived through what we know as a really dark time in the “gay community” when a disease was quite literally reaping as many as it could. I’ve spoken with older gay men about the tragedy of loss but I feel as though there is a disconnect as all of my friends are gone by their own hands. Maybe it’s just the friends I keep? That feels disgusting to say. A dear friend of mine is dying. Yes, the saying might be true—we all die alone. 
Depressed
Elderly depression increases health risks & mortality rates, but not always for obvious reasons. Help others & yourself avoid loneliness in old age. Despite everything we know about the importance of maintaining social connections as we get older, finding friends after 60 can be a challenge. As we age, the easy social connections that we enjoyed as schoolmates, parents, and colleagues change.
All of my friends are dead
