The Last of Us is by far one of my favourite examples of LGBT representation done right. Its queer characters aren't buried in subtext and they play a prominent role in the story without being tokens. Bill, Riley, Ellie, Dina, and Lev are all fully realized characters who just so happen to be LGBT. And what makes this even better is that The Last of Us isn't even a storyaboutlgbt issues. Instead, the sequence takes up over 40 minutes of the episode. You might also expect too, in this adaptation of a videogame, that the love story would be blandly told: such adaptations do not have a history of bringing the nuances of human relationships to life.
