No longer Black or White?
There are strong parallels between Galatians and Colossians ("Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.") and 1 Corinthians ("For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we. Further, more women of color who identify as LGBT reported living in a low-income household, and experiencing unemployment and food insecurity compared to all other groups. Overall, the series of papers demonstrate that the relationship between race and LGBT status is a complicated one that differs by outcome and racialized group.
Racial Differences Among LGBT Adults in the US
Our previous analyses of whether there were differences between LGBT and non-LGBT adults within each racial group revealed a complex narrative on the role of LGBT status within racial groupings in the U.S. 9 While White and Asian-American LGBT adults consistently fared significantly worse than their non-LGBT counterparts on economic and health. “T here is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” In a world marred by the violence of a White racial imagination and the aftershocks of a White supremacist presidency, these words from Galatians are often evoked in a spirit of hope. For some, critical race theory and those who teach it are the instigators of division. They suggest that if we rewrite our textbooks and bury talk of race and racism—and all difference, for that matter—we will finally find a sense of peace.
Black, Bisexual, and Blessed
Jews began to be called non-white, and many even started calling Jews black. For example, in , professor Arthur Abernathy published a book called The Jew a Negro, claiming Jews and Africans were racially identical. His book compared racist stereotypes of black physical and social traits to stereotypical Jewish traits to show that Jews were. In a David Baddiel-ian age, when it has become increasingly common to believe that 'Jews Don't Count,' community leaders and commentators have become ever more concerned about how data on Jews is gathered. There is growing disquiet, for example, that the national census of England and Wales only provides one question about religion, with one tick box allowing people to identify as Jewish, thereby potentially missing secular or atheist Jews who do not see their Jewishness as their religion.

Israel has been reaching out again to African nations. And, for American Jews there is no better time than now to rejuvenate the relationship between the Black and Jewish communities. .
