I wanted to make emotionally vulnerable portraits and intimate scenes of older men. I think most older men cut themselves off from emotional intimacy, especially when it comes to their relationships with. The film profiles the life of Kazuo Furuhata, a year-old man who has lived through numerous societal transformations yet only recently embraced his identity as a gay man. Through intimate interviews and archival footage, Yamamoto weaves a narrative that is both historical and deeply personal.
