What was it like “being the gay kid” in high school?
Most of my friends were also gay so it wasn’t really much different from being a regular kid in high school. Everyone was pretty open about their sexuality and it was normal to see people showing off the rainbow on their backpacks and clothing. Recent disruptions in education have caused lawmakers and educators alike to focus heavily on traditionally underserved student populations. From meeting the needs of English learners to closing learning gaps exacerbated by the pandemic, K12 institutions are reimagining education to put students first.
