There’s an idea (that I struggle to translate in English) of modesty, prudishness even, in Nietzsche, and it is both intellectual and sentimental. Nietzsche draws often a parallel between the attitude of the philosopher towards Truth with the attitude of women regarding sexuality — read aphorism 4 of The Gay Science for a good example.
