Zain Alam
Zain Alam (b. ) is an artist and composer of Hindustani origin born in Flushing, Queens and raised outside of Atlanta. His work emerges from a lifelong question: in what ways can sound convey the ineffable?. I met Zain Alam of Humeysha two years ago, when he came to Miami for a residency and stayed for the vibes. He was enamored with the ease and accessibility of time spent outdoors: in warm backyards, along the coastal shoreline, in parks on the bay.

Performance: Zain Alam As part of Dream House: Inside Music + Video, Zain Alam presents a sound bath performance. Inspired by varying traditions of melody and rhythms across the Islamic world and South Asia, Alam creates improvised music transforming the space into a sacred environment in the process. I am a Muslim. All other experiences were subsequent to the rhythms of Islamic verse.
