Xena and Gabrielle, even if you see the two of them as platonic, being outsiders and finding one another is so beautiful. If we are talking about gay moments besides just the two of them, I'd say it's worth discussing Thelassa, Najara, and Brunhilda falling for Gabrielle. Xena and Lao Ma's interactions. A complex heroine with incredible fighting skills who raised the bar for on-screen depictions of women in general. A red-haired young woman who started out as a plucky and somewhat naive sidekick only to mature into a far more complex and capable figure.

The kiss in 's Xena: Warrior Princess #2, and the confirmation of their long-standing romance, validates many of the TV show's intimate moments. For a story that was rich with queer subtext, but impeded from making the characters' relationship a direct part of the story, this comic proved to be an important milestone. Stewart and others have reflected on the show for a fascinating Entertainment Weekly retrospective. And that was, I guess, the magic ingredient.
Why Xena
Xena: Warrior Princess wasn't allowed to make Xena/Gabrielle canon, but that didn't stop the show from playing up the queer subtext of their relationship.
