The designation of Proudmoore as such a realm is perhaps related to name of the server, connecting the "Proud" in "Proudmoore" to the concept of "LGBT pride" or "gay pride." Currently, I'm the "token gay bro" in a straight guild. We moved over to Proudmoore from a dead game because WoW actually produces content. Proudmoore is great but yes, it's mostly Alliance. It doesn't have that big of an impact now that we have cross-faction guilds but, for example, I keep a human alt parked in Stormwind for when I need to find crafters in trade chat. .
