Mass Effect romances, by the numbers
They found some unused dialogue, and it looked like dialogue for a romance between Kaidan and Male Shepard. Raphael Sbarge and Mark Meer, Kaidan and Shepard's voice actors, had recorded romance dialogue. So it was reasonable to assume this had been cut content. Kaidan was originally planned as a bi romance. BioWare has long been regarded for its romance storylines in its RPG games. There are also plenty of opportunities for romance for male and female Commander Shepard.

Mark Meer is a Canadian actor, writer and improvisor, based in Edmonton, Alberta. He is known for his role in the Mass Effect trilogy, in which he stars as the voice of the player character, Commander Shepard. If I recall correctly, the only real reason the Mass Effect series has had no male homosexual romance in it is because Mark Meer, the man who voice-acts for the male Commander Shepard, absolutely refuses to voice any scenes of a non-heterosexual nature, unlike the massively talented and far less stuffy Jennifer Hale.
