I am rereading The Goldfinch, my favorite Donna Tartt novel, and for some reason the sexuality of the two old guys is bugging me. The circumstantial evidence that they are gay seems pretty strong, but where is the smoking gun? It seems like there is just no way to be sure. And if Hobie is gay does that mean that his surprisingly strong attachment to Theo is more than platonic? In some ways the. He may or may not be gay.
