I think the only person Bateman ever liked in that novel was his secretary. The movie also excludes some of the murders that were committed in the novel (ie: the super detailed murder of Bateman's former girlfriend, Bethany- though whether that happened or not is questionable, etc). I loved American psycho but I really wish Patrick wasn’t so scared to come out of the closet when Luis hit on him. There’s signs throughout the entire movie that Patrick is queer and imo it would’ve made for a much happier ending, but I don’t think our bigoted society would’ve been ready for that Archived post. .
