Gay Outdoor adventure community: trips, events, photos, links, trail maintenance, swimming holes, member profiles, etc. My friends didn't feel safe hiking alone. So I started looking into queer hiking groups—and even started a local chapter.

To manage the dangers of being openly gay in the outdoors, we look for signals from the people we adventure with. The outdoors may provide a space for some to find solace, adventure or a deep connection with the world. We hope it can serve not only as a resource for connecting with these amazing organizations, but also serves as a powerful testament to the importance of fostering a sense of community, acceptance and empowerment within the outdoors space. 
Wilderness Network of Georgia
Location: Washington, DC Mission: Adventuring LGBTQ+ is the oldest gay outdoors club operating in the DC metro area. The group was founded with the idea to create spaces for LGBTQIA+ people to interact outside of the city's bar scene. Strap on your best outdoor walking boots and head for the great outdoors with the Gay Mens' Hiking Group. This woodsy gang of dudes takes day trips to nearby mountains, forests and nature trails. Recent trips have included a winter hike in the Hudson Highlands and a vigorous 10 mile hike in Harriman. We are a group gay outdoor recreation enthusiasts that encourages everyone to improve their mind, body and spirit through outdoor activities. Membership is free!
