GLBT Historical Society
LGBTQ history dates back to the first recorded instances of same-sex love, diverse gender identities, and sexualities in ancient civilizations, involving the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) peoples and cultures around the world. We also work to foster the development and growth of broad and diverse communities of people interested in learning about and producing LGBTQ histories. We are especially interested in under-represented histories and historical research that contributes to positive social change.
Overlooked Moments in LGBTQ+ History
Since the Making Gay History podcast has been mining Eric Marcus’s decades-old audio archive of rare interviews—conducted for his award-winning oral history of the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement—to create intimate portraits of both known and long-forgotten champions, heroes, and witnesses to history. In addition, we’ve also produced documentary series that explore milestone events. It was in the early s that I entered my teenage years and first noticed the sexual attraction that I felt for men.
