Today I'm giving an overview of 35 canonically LGBTQIA characters in Avatar: the Last Airbender, the Legend of Korra and it's expanded material. Happy Pride. Tlok has been an extremely controversial part of the Avatar franchise. But the biggest reason that threw most people off the edge was the fact that Korra and Asami ended up together by the end of the series.

In a series that isn't afraid of gay characters, no, they were just friends. There are 4 confirmed LGBT characters in the shows (5, if you count Kyoshi's lover that wasn't in the show). The following contains major spoilers for the novel Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Dawn of Yangchen, available now in stores and online. While the same-sex relationship that capped off the series stopped just short of its protagonist and Asami kissing, the comics and books that have expanded the world of Avatar ever since have done an admirable job showcasing the endless variety of realistic human relationships.
