Sylvando, known in Japan as Silvia (Japanese: シルビア, Hepburn: Shirubia), is a fictional character from Square Enix 's role-playing video game Dragon Quest XI. Sylvando first appears in the video game Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age as a companion of its protagonist, the Luminary. Getting real gay representation in games is a fraught prospect no matter where it comes from. Too often we have heterosexual creators falling back on harmful tropes when including someone like us, or flat-out using us as a punchline.

Is sylvando gay or just very flamboyant?

Sylvando was one of the better characters in the game by the end (and NONE of the characters are really weak so it says something for Sylvando). But even if you don't care for that subject about him, as long as it doesn't totally ruin things for you, he'll provide many scenes with a lot of emotion. Perhaps welcome more because the hero is mute. . 
Is Sylvando gay or european?
The fact is Dragon Quest has made a character that although is assumed to be gay by his characteristics is still a charming and strong bad ass character. He doesn't run away from adversity, he looks it straight in the eye and kicks it's ass and cares about everyone. .

Sylvando (the character in question) is probably the best and most positive portrayal of a gay character I remember in a video game in a very long time. He is gay, but that sexual preference not even once becomes his only defining trait, or even a defining trait, no more than a heteronormative person's sexual orientation ever does. .
