Billed as the concluding chapter for the current Avengers franchise, Endgame features a brief cameo by one of the movie's directors, Joe Russo, playing a gay man. For example, Mystique was considered a queer icon long before representation became mainstream. In the comics' "The Fearless Defenders" series, Valkyrie is clearly bisexual and has a relationship with the female anthropologist Annabelle Riggs.
