Some users misinterpreted the combination of the Unicode symbols as a new emoji added by Apple, describing it as homophobic and anti- LGBTQ [3] [4] [5]. While the emoji combination appears as a crossed-out rainbow flag on Apple mobile devices (shown below, left), it appears differently on Android devices (shown below, center) and on Windows. Labelled the 'no homo' emoji, this was discovered online a couple of days ago and has since gone viral. Luckily, much of its more popular usage appears to be ironic.

Since February 18, the bone of contention was a purportedly new emoji that depicted the rainbow flag of the LGBT community with a superimposed crossed-out circle, quasi declaring it unwanted — but only in the iPhone view.

Otherwise you can remove the emoji keyboard altogether by going to settings and turning it off. You may also opt to replace it with a 3rd party emoji app but you would need to make sure it doesn’t have anything you find offensive on it. .

This is why some devices will not recognize some Emoji. I think it might be a bit of a stretch for them to add all the pride flags, just because it would be a bit unprecedented in terms of going for the smallest percentage of people. .
