United Methodists elect a third openly gay, married bishop
Elizabeth Stuart, a former convener of the Catholic Caucus of the Lesbian and Gay Christian movement claimed, "It has been estimated that at least 33 percent of all priests in the RC Church in the United States are homosexual." [24]. Catholics tend to project their heterosexuality and their fidelity onto their clergy, just like I did as a seminarian and young priest. It was for this reason that I had no idea that the two young priests with whom I served at my first parish assignment were homosexuals who were preying on our altar boys.
