The New York City Gay Men's Chorus (NYCGMC) was founded in August by Ed Weaver who having moved to NYC had been a member of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. Their first season culminated in a sold-out concert with the Riverside Symphony at Alice Tully Hall in June which featured new pieces or newly arranged works by Leonard Bernstein, Jack Gottlieb, Calvin Hampton, John Mueter. .

(Accentuate the) Positive was a concert I created with Dr. Charles Beale for New York City Gay Men’s Chorus. When it comes to the subject of HIV/AIDS, most LGBTQ+ choruses sing in remembrance of loved ones lost. We wanted to create a concert from the point of view of those living with HIV/AIDS, nearly 30 years after the start of the epidemic. .
