Thomas "Tom" Melini is the father of Chelsea, ex-husband of Martha Melini and the boyfriend of Edward Boyton. He is portrayed by Stacy Keach. Tom was married to Martha and fathered a daughter Chelsea and a son. Though he behaved like a racist and a homophobe, deep-down he was not a racist and had a romantic passion for his old Navy buddy and friend Edward Boyton. However, he hid those feelings. Edward Boyton is the boyfriend of Tom and common-law stepfather of Chelsea Melini. He is portrayed by the late John Amos.

Yay, No Polyps: Directed by James Widdoes. With Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, Conchata Ferrell. Charlie endures a colonoscopy to get out of a trip to see Chelsea's bigoted parents, only to find them in his living room when he returns home. Chelsea wants to take a trip to Illinois with Charlie so he can meet her parents. Charlie pretends that he has a colonoscopy scheduled for the day she wants to go in order to avoid the trip, but when she insists on taking him to the hospital personally, he manages to schedule a real one.
