Honestly I think it's because gay men put in a lot more effort into their grooming. They usually have fresh haircuts with a clean shave, wear nice cologne and flattering clothes. They're also excellent at reading body language (how else you gonna spot another gay man!) and know how to carry themselves in a social setting.
