Speaking from personal interests and experience. Most girl friends of mine don't really like muscles that I would consider big. But gay men who I've dated as well as other gay men I'm friends with seem to be more often attracted or open to the idea of a bulky/muscular guy. Im not talking about roided out pound bodybuilders because I know thats still a niche attraction that not most guys. We surveyed men attracted to men, asking them to rate varying degrees of muscularity and leanness. We also asked them which muscle proportions they found most attractive.

Generally speaking, for us men we notice when a woman has been working on her glutes, hamstrings, and thighs. Guys with muscles will always be "in". Look at every era of art. But how many muscles and how big they are, and how much body fat on top of that (15% body fat can still let you see abs so long as you just now did a bunch of situps and are currently flexing i.e. looking soft doesn't obscure as much muscle as you night think) comes and goes. .
