So throw that together with being in rural communities that generally are less accepting or open-minded (some neighbors won't even speak to you no matter how friendly you are); also you are removed from any gay/LGBT support structure or community.. well lets just say those of us that homestead anyway REALLY love farming and our livestock. Gay in rural America
Stereotypically, gay, queer and trans kids flee small towns to find acceptance in big, diverse cities like New York or Chicago. But evidence shows many will eventually return to rural areas. These millions of understudied LGBTQ residents of rural America are the subject of my latest academic research project.
