Tierna Davidson is the only publicly out LGBTQ athlete on the U.S. women's soccer team at the Paris Olympics. It begs the question: Why?. Another season, another year of me writing about the NWSL! While I do not follow the NWSL incredibly closely, this article is always a delight to write and I hope that it will help you all to become more avid women’s soccer followers just as it helped me! There are fewer gay players in the league this year than last year, unfortunately. We cheered on the perennial powerhouses and celebrated the debutantes. We saw some of the most incredible feats of athleticism… one goal after another reminding us why they call this the beautiful game.
